How has your training/college education helped prepare you for a career
in theatre?: My undergraduate training gave me a strong construction
background. I had to take whole semesters of draping, flat patterning
and tailoring. This gave me a strong sense of the garment from the inside
out. I believe this understanding brings life to a costume. My art training
allowed me to dive into other passions, including photography and drawing.
I feel that my MFA is what gave me the intense theatrical training to
pull all these skills together to work as a collaborative artist.
Why did you choose
to ply your craft in Chicago?: I did my first show here in Chicago
while I was in graduate school. I loved the city and the theatrical community,
and I decided to make it my home.
