David
Pasquesi University/Training: BA in Philosophy, Loyola University Chicago. Training: I practiced improvisation under the scrutiny of Del Close for many years, as well as countless hours on stage acting, improvising, doing sketch comedy and stand-up. Recent/Current projects: Recently, Glengarry Glen Ross at Steppenwolf and The Dazzle at the Steppenwolf Studio. Currently writing screenplays and plays, shooting short films and improvising at ImprovOlympic. How has your training/college education helped prepare you for a career in theatre?: Improvisation prepares one for everything, but especially for the theatre. You practice being comfortable with not knowing what happens next. That allows you to better listen to the other people on stage, which I believe is the single most important attribute for an actor. Why did you choose to ply your craft in Chicago?: I have spent time in Los Angeles and New York. Although New York is a great place, I find you can participate in your own career in Chicago rather than wait for things to be done for you. I enjoy working on stage and performing original material. And there is no better place to do that than Chicago. There are better places to work on a television show and on Broadway, but there is no better place to work on stage. I enjoy everything about living in Chicagomostly that there is life outside of the entertainment industry. |
