| Film, Film, Film BY BELINDA BREMNER We promised to catch up with Claire Simon in this issue and so her bookings lead off. For Deal’s, Claire and Co. booked Jenni Fontana, Elizabeth Ledo, Jacqueline Williams, Krissy Shields and Lisa Keefe. And for an Ocedder spot they cast Michele Lmax, Ruth De Bruyn and Claudia Cuesta. They cast a commercial for Harrah’s and an industrial for Eli Lily and worked on the pilot for “Cop Shop“ and conducted a search for the Columbia Pictures feature Zathura Space Adventure. Theatre casting included I Do, I Do for Indiana Rep, A Moon For The Misbegotten for Madison Rep, Cyrano and The Crucible for Milwaukee Rep, and Top Dog/Under Dog for Madison Rep, as well as the staged reading of Katzman. Tune in next time for “Twilight Zone“ bookings. Over at Tenner Paskal Rudnicke they are busy with movie casting for such projects as Amityvile Horror, Light (the latest from local director Chris McKay) and Pearl Diver. They cast the play Bunkbed Brothers and spots for Mr. Transmission, Hampton Inn, Old Navy, Shop 'n’ Save, Chevy, Wisconsin Lottery, and McDonalds’. They also lent a hand to Chicagoans Scott Smith and Duane Edwards, casting their Project Greenlight final assignments. The two are in the top 10. Check out their entries online at projectgreenlight.com. Jane Alderman will be casting the Juliane Moore film The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio and just completed a massive casting for a series of commercials for David Cranfill. Booked were: Jan Anglin, Tim Decker, Max Chung, C.J. Johnson, Gigi Buffington, David McCoy, Lauren Paton, Tom Roland, Anthony LeBlanc, Anne Roche, Tom Dougherty, Dev Kennedy, Charlie Yokum, Clarris Todd, Guy Massey, Annabel Armour, Trevor Luce, Ryan Kitley, Kelli Nonnemacher, and Brandon Russell. Add to the list of films shooting here the independent feature Dee Dee Rutherford directed by Mike Meiner, who directed the short film Diet and produced by Bob Brown from Purple Rose Films. The new Batman feature The Intimidation Game will be here to shoot exteriors in late July. There will be Oceans 12 re-shoots also in July and the new Bob Tietel/George Tillman feature Rollbounce begins the same month. As advertised, Amityville Horror will be shooting nearby in Silver Lake, Wisconsin. And Kalamazoo, an indie film financed and shooting in the city of the same name, is gearing up for an early-July shoot. Good “possible maybes” for fall include Hum and All Fall Down. A word about films. A caveat, really. Be very, very careful what you let yourself into. Whereas the VAST majority of films and filmmakers are on the up and up, there are always some louses out there whose interests are purientt rather than artistic. Never agree to a film if you don’t get to read the entire script. Never agree to something about which you have the slightest misgivings. Films that advertise for young actors who look very young but who must be at least 18 may very well be asking for you to show a whole lot more than just your talent. Don’t let anyone, even someone who says they are your agent, talk you into doing something you don’t want to. In fact, wherever you encounter unprofessional behavior in auditions or working conditions, for Heaven’s sake let someone know. If you are working outside union jurisdiction, you can still call the union and let them know what you encounter. You can contact this paper, or the hotlines, the Department of Labor, Better Business Bureau or even the police. Peace. Eds. Disclosure: PerformInk editor Nicole Bernardi-Reis is producer for Scott Smith and Chris McKay. |
