Local Scouting Shows Promise
BY BELINDA BREMNER

This will be short, but sweet. And, did I say short? Well, yes. But just wait until the July issue when we list all those chickens flying about, which will have come to roost. We’re talking three-page foldout. Maybe.

So here’s what is in the works right now. You already know that we have Barber Shop II up and running, and we’ll get a bite of Game of Their Lives and Shall We dance—both in August. But had you heard about Spikes, starring Paul Sorvino and Christina Applegate, that will shoot here in the late summer? And there are rumblings about the film version of Proof coming here. John Madden of Shakespeare In Love glory will direct and Gwyneth Paltrow is already attached to the project.

Otherwise, there is a fair bit of scouting going on and, with luck, there will be more news come July. In the meantime, life looks a whole a lot rosier than a fortnight past.

When Game of Their Lives shoots, it will feature actors cast by Jane Alderman. The incomparable La Alderman will be casting for shooting both in town and in St. Louis.

Look for a passel o’ bookings from Tenner Paskal Rudnicke in the next issue. Bound to be well worth the wait.

Meanwhile, Claire Simon Casting has been super busy with theatrical casting. For Arcadia at Indiana Rep, they cast Laura Fisher, Mary Beth Fisher, Patricia Dollymore, Matt Ziegler, Ben Werling and Jason Bradley. And, for the same theatre, they cast Jenny McKnight in Turn of the Screw. They cast Nadriah Bost in Sunshine Boys at Madison Rep and James McKay and the amazing Joe Dempsey for Metamorphoses at St. Louis Rep. Up next are auditions for Baltimore Center Stage. And they cast a commercial for Febreze with Jennifer Anglin, Mary Beth Dolan and Will Malnatti.

Have a lovely Fourth of July.

Peace.
