13th Annual Fillet of Solo 2008
Live Bait offers its 13th edition of its festival of solo work running through Aug. 16. All performances take place at Live Bait, 3914 N. Clark. This will likely be the last Fillet at their current space. Admission is $15. For additional information and reservations, check the web at www.livebaittheater.org or call 773/871-1212. 7/10-7/27: Potholes to the Path of Enlightenmentfeaturing Tekki Lomnicki, Rob Schroeder, Matt Kerns, Maia Morgan Tellin’ Tales Theatre returns to Fillet of Solo for a sixth smash year with tales of saints, painful estrangements and 4 am bars. Friday-Saturday 8 p.m., Sun 3 p.m. Additional performance July 10 at 8 p.m. 7/11-7/19: A Dreadful Dayfeaturing Susan McLaughlin Karp, David Kodeski, Stephanie Shaw, Diana Slickman, Edward Thomas-Herrera Millicent and Archie are two preternaturally well-spoken orphans whose best intentions have this funny way of paving the road to Hell. Well, not so “funny.” More like “ominous.” And not exactly the road to Hell inasmuch as a sure-fire way to catch scarlet fever. Friday-Saturday 7:30 p.m. 7/25-8/9: Sampler Superstars!featuring Joe Stieff, Paul Thomas, Umm Dania, Gloria Coco, Margot Bordelon Veterans of the past 13 years of solo performances return for an evening of the best of the best. July 25-26 7:30 p.m., August 9 7:30 p.m. 8/1-8/16: Stop Mauled! The Musical!featuring Kristin Garrison How many Walgreens does one neighborhood actually require? And just how many support groups does a person have to join to make some friends around here anyway? Saturday-Sunday 8 p.m., no performances August 8 and 9. 8/8-8/9: Sweatiliciousfeaturing The Sweat Girls: Cindy Hanson, Dorothy Milne, Clare Nolan, Martie Sanders, Pamela Webster From seducing a priest to kissing the whole baseball team, the Sweat Girls truly embrace their hot mama past and present. Friday-Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 3 p.m. 7/31-8/16: Me and My Dad Storiesfeaturing Martie Sanders, Tom McNamara, Gerrit O’Neill, Charlie Sanders An Irish boxer, an optimistic gambler and, last but not least, a 79-year-old who pulls out his tap shoes after 40 years and joins his daughter Martie on stage. Three striking monologues about three loveable yet complex dads. July 31-August 2 7:30 p.m., August 15-16 7:30 p.m. 8/8: Missing Manfeaturing Mary Scruggs This show has been accepted into the prestigious New York Theater Fringe Festival in late August. Live Bait is hosting a special fundraiser to offset the performer’s expenses and to give audiences one last chance to catch her performance. Saturday 7:30 p.m. |
